Vampires and the werewolves are ruling at the box office.'Eclipse', the third installment in the superhit 'Twilight' saga has made it to the top at the box office by taking in about USD 68.5 million this weekend.
Summit Entertainment's book adaptation also broke a record for the widest release in film history by getting 4,416 screens thus breaking 'Iron Man 2's record of 4,380 runs, Variety reported.
In the five days since its release, the vampire romance, starring Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, has earned about USD 161 million domestically.
Manoj M Night Shyamalan's 'The Last Airbender' was second by earning about USD 41.6 million over the three-day weekend in 3,169 screens.
While Disney's 'Toy Story 3' made USD 30.1 million in 4,028 runs.
Sony's 'Grown Ups' came fourth with an estimate of USD 18.5 million in 3,534 runs.
Fox's 'Knight and Day', starring Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz, made it to the fifth spot with about USD 9.9 million in 3,104 runs.
