After all their four finalists ended up on the losing side, the Indians will return from the 52nd Military Boxing Championship in Baku, Azerbaijan with a haul of four silver and three bronze medals.

Paramjit Singh (48kg), Suranjoy Singh (51kg), Chhote Lal Yadav (57kg) and Manpreet Singh (91kg) lost to locals in their respective summit clashes to settle for silver medals.

Earlier, Melbourne Commonwealth Games gold medallist Som Bahadur Pun (64kg), Mahendra Thapa (81kg) and Mehar Singh (+91kg) had to be content with bronze medals after losing their semifinals.

In the finals on Saturday, Paramjit was the first Indian to take the ring and he lost 4-6 to home favourite Abiyev Ceyhun before Suranjoy was outpunched 4-15, also by a local hope Najafov Rahim.

Next up was national champion Chhote Lal Yadav and he too fell to an Azerbaijani Ismailov Elshan, who beat him 11-2.

Manpreet Singh was equally timid in his 1-11 loss to another Azerbaijani Alizade Elchin.
