Officials in the London borough of Ealing have seized over 10,000 pirated Bollywood, Hollywood and porn DVDs worth over 50,000 pounds.
Ealing Council's trading standards officers and the police seized a series of unclassified pornographic titles including Doghouse and A Naughty Doll in Southall Broadway. The area is inhabited by a large population of Indian origin.
The hoard included illegal copies of box office films like 'The Infidel', 'It's A Wonderful Afterlife' and 'Aisha'.
Councillor Ranjit Dheer, cabinet member for Safer Communities, said: "We will not tolerate anyone selling counterfeit products and will continue to take enforcement action against people caught breaking the law.
The pornography is very concerning because it contains offensive images." He added: "The sale of counterfeit DVDs affects the livelihoods of legitimate businesses and these profiteering traders are ruining the wonderful shopping experience Southall has to offer.
"Piracy has a negative impact on the creative industry and the money being made from selling these DVDs goes to fund other criminal activities."
All the DVDs confiscated will be destroyed, the council said.
